As a parent or guardian of a NBYB player, it is expected that you are responsible for your behavior and other parents, family, or guests that you bring to games. Please remember that this is youth basketball, so it’s important that players learn to be a competitive athlete while being respectful and demonstrating good sportsmanship regardless of the circumstances. Every adult (Parents and Guests), is expected to be a positive role model and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all Players, Coaches, Officials and Spectators at every game.
Words and Actions while attending or participating in a NBYB attended event shall conform to the behavior in the following code of conduct:
Sportsmanlike conduct is expected at all times. Adults will NOT engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, player or parent such as berating, taunting, and refusing to shake hands; verbal or physical threats; or using profane language or gestures.
Respect the officials and their authority before, during and after games and never confront officials at anytime. Allow coaches to handle disputed decisions or calls made by referees, officials or volunteers responsible for game rules.
ENFORCEMENT OPTIONS
Parent or guest will be “Warned” of their Conduct and reminded that the “Warning” will stay on file for the entire season. If no other warning is recorded, the file will be discarded.
First Suspension:
This is a result of a parent or guest formally given a First Warning violating the code of conduct. The suspension requires the parent or guest not to attend the next NBYB game, including tournaments. If a parent or guest ignores the suspension, the coach will be required to bench the related player for that game. A suspension will be kept on file for the remainder of the season.
Final Suspension:
Any parent or guest receiving a second suspension due to improper conduct or is involved in any physical altercation with a player, referee, coach, official, parent, or other volunteer managing the game, will be banned from ALL NBYB games and tournaments. Failure to comply will result in the player related to the parent or guest dismissed from the NBYB for the balance of the season and tournaments with no refund.
Thank you for adhering to this code of conduct and for setting the example for sportsmanship and respect.
